INSPIRATIONS // SLUMBER SUMMER

Have you ever had a themed look for the summer?? A couple of friends and I were talking last night about how excited we were for summer to get here and how the city will feel somewhat alive again after that horrendous winter. Then they began to talk about what their "summer looks" were going to be. One of my friends said: "This summer I'm doing pops of neon!". Another said she was going for a "gangsta femme" approach. 

Then it made me wonder...should I have a themed summer? Personally, I've never had a themed summer -- I've always just gone with the flow. But then again, how fun would that be to change up your wardrobe a little by sticking to one style all summer long?

After some thinking, I finally came to a conclusion. I obviously want to be comfortable, chic, and casual all wrapped into one while I attempt to bear this hot summer. 

So SLUMBER SUMMER it is! Bring on he drapey t-shirts, silk pants, oversized button ups, and Birkenstocks. Yes, I said it, Birkenstocks! 

I think this summer I just want complete comfort. It probably won't happen everyday but let's see how long I can keep it up! What do you guys think about my #SlumberSummer inspiration? 

Birthday leather

Today is my birthday and I'm finally 21! Now I can show a real id at bars and not receive funny looks from bartenders. 

I never thought I would be wearing a tank in dead winter for my birthday, but I just couldn't pass up this leather one from Three Floor. I'm thinking about layering it over a long black chiffon from American Apparel..what do you guys think?

Festivities tonight include dinner with ten of my friends at Mercer Kitchen followed by dancing the night away!

Wish me luck that I remember the night.

Welcoming Winter

Welcoming winter, but not quite with open arms. I've already started the winter with a cold. It's officially hit winter to a high in the 30's and low in the 20's..yikes! Frankly, I'm starting to miss the nice fall weather, but I can't act like this wasn't coming. I'm staying warm by the art of layering. That means scarves over jackets over sweaters over flannels.

How's everyone else adapting to the weather change?

Mondays

As Monday rolls around, this is almost always my current fashion mood. Very casual, very effortless, and a very lazy kind of style. The chilly fall weather never seems to help the laziness because it gives me more of an excuse to layer up to be super comfy. As much as I hate ending the weekend, Monday's always kick off the start of a great week ahead.

Weekend: Labor Day

So here's my little go-to outfit that I'll probably wear (or something similar) for this labor day weekend. Just trying to keep it cute or put it on mute and casual because who knows what this weekend will bring. Comfy jeans, sneakers, a backpack full of booze, (jk) and a simple sweater to throw over a denim top because lately these summer nights have been getting chilly. Although right now, I don't have any set in stone plans, I'm pretty sure I'll end up catching a few drinks somewhere in the city with friends.

Missing Senses

Everyone has been asking me where my iPhone case was from and truth be told, they're hand painted by my good friend Mimi. Like my outfits, my iPhone case usually changes depending on my mood and boy do these cases express many moods.

Personally my favorite of the three is 'Missing Senses' considering its been snapped on my iPhone for quite some time now but, I'll probably change it up soon.

Spring Lovin'

Can I get a "hell yeah" as to who else is ready for spring weather in New York City? 

*Everyone shouts* "Hell yeah!"

 I'm beyond stoked to rock shorts and loafers, throw on some shades, and truly enjoy being outside in the warmth breeze drinking smoothies cocktails at the High Line. Let's be real. The only layering I should be concerned with when spring rolls around is "layering" accessories. I'm through with bundling up in heavy coats and scarfs to stay warm. I need sun!  

This weather has been flip-floppy lately -- with one day in the low 30's, following the next in the mid 50's. But hopefully with this mid 55 degree sunshine we're getting this entire week will be fresh start for spring lovin'.
