THE ESSENTIALS

Photos by: Jessie Cheng

| top: QUINN, pant: APT 9, bag: Milly, sandals: ASOS |

Basics are the ESSENTIALS of my wardrobe. I'm talking great silk blend t-shirts, simple belts, and the perfect fitted casual trousers. For busy days packed with meeting (which involve running around New York City), the basics make it that much easier and comfortable!

SOMETHING LIKE A FARMER

Photos by: Jessie Cheng

| hat: vintage, shirt: 2xist, overalls: Ainsley, shoes: Superga  |

Overalls -- something so easy to throw on and something I couldn't live without in my closet. When I'm wearing overalls, just know that I'm having an ultimate lazy day.  The only thing that makes it seem as if I'm not compltely slugging around the city like a bum is a clean shirt and one of my favorite vintage hats.

MELLOW YELLOW

Yup, this suit is winning right now in spring wardrobe. It's not too yellow where I'm as bright as the sun, yet not too mellow where it goes unnoticed. It's the perfect shade of yellow for any spring day. Quick shopping secret - I actually purchased this suit from the women's section from ASOS, but that doesn't matter, right? Blurring the lines between womenswear and menswear is what I do best!
My first thought was to pair this suit with white sneakers which would have been nice, but what's the fun in that? These mint green Converse seemed to do the trick in adding that extra pop of spring.

I've been carrying my new Brandon Blackwood bag around with me EVERYWHERE. It seriously holds everything I need for the day and more! The shape of the bag is what initially sold me. When full, it's completely structured and when half full it almost creates a boho slouchy vibe. You can shop more of the Brandon Blackwood collection HERE

VILLAGE PEOPLE

Pulling out my lighter weight pants for sunny days like these. I almost forgot I owned these relaxed pants because they were buried under all my winter bottoms. I'm glad I started to rearranged things. As if the pop of red wasn't enough, I love print of the village people. It makes my outfit a little more interesting, especially since I'm having a lazy day.

THE SUIT GAME

To be honest, I LIVE for a suit. Whether it's a bold color, print, or even a short suit, it's all a 2nd skin for me. However, whenever I decide to wear one - expect the unexpected. Who said suits were only for the workplace? There's always an urge in me to underdress a suit. Sneakers, sandals, and t-shirts are usually how I step away from the typical suit attire.

I'm obsessed with this suit by Iris & Ink from The Outnet that I got about a year ago. I've only worn it a couple times in the winter but I'm glad that it's finally nice enough in the city to let it breathe without a winter coat.

SPRINGIN' IN

Photos by: Asia Minor

If you follow my Instagram , you'll see that this past week I was living in paradise. I've recently just returned to NYC from Puerto Rico and I'm having mixed feelings from it all. Happy to be back, yes. But how does one fully adjust from sunny 86° weather to 59° and rainy?
R.I.P to my favorite/everyday black sunnies my boyfriend lost in the Puerto Rican sea.
In need of a replacement ASAP!

MIXED PATTERNS

Mixing patterns never felt so good. Whoever said your outfits needed to match from head-to-toe, lied. There's too many plaids and stripes to mix-and-match. This is probably my everyday outfit for spring. A hat, crop jacket, and comfy trousers. The weather here in New York has been up and down. We haven't exactly gotten that spring weather us New Yorkers have been oh so longing for. Counting down the days until it warms up just a tad so I can ditch my flannels for silk t-shirts and pack up my scarfs for good!

Warmer days couldn't come quicker considering I'm off to Puerto Rico tomorrow! I cannot wait to get out of the city and catch some real vitamin D! My responsibilities are going straight out the window as I will be doing nothing except for drinking margaritas on the beach and exploring San Juan, of course.

90's KID

It’s Thursday and you know what that means! Throw back Thursday to the 90’s! This is one of the many era’s I wish I could travel back in time to re-live. Well, re-live it in my 20’s. (Preferably, 21) Social wise, was way too young to know what was going on during 92’-99’. I do, however have fond memories of the clothes my parents wore.

There was this black leather jacket my dad wore on the weekends which made me think he literally was the epitome of “cool." I was OBSESSED with at the age of 7. (Yes, my obsession with clothes started at a young age). He still has that jacket to this day so whenever I make trips home to Raleigh, I make it my mission to wear it out at least once with friends. As for my mom, she wore a lot of skirt suits during the week and denim on the weekends. It’s was cool to see my parents take the effort to dress up and look good, as they still do today. Maybe that’s where I picked up my style from.

Enough about my parents, lets get into this look!
Here’s another spring/summer look from my Conner Rana collaboration. This silver metallic bomber jacket is my life right now. Some would say it’s a little bold, but imagine throwing it over a basic white t-shirt, paired with jeans and perhaps Birkenstocks. It'll add that extra pop to any look. It also just seemed like an easy combo to tie in the silver print from the pants.
What do you guys think of the look?

BLUE BROOKLYN BABY

Spring is in full mode here in New York City and I am completely obsessed with it. That's right! I've been trading out my heavy winter coats for light leather ones like this one by Conner Rana. I don't know what it is about leather jackets, but why do they make you feel like a complete bad ass? I love the silver hardware touches on this one; giving it a little more edge.

As much as I'm loving spring here in the city, I can't wait to escape somewhere warmer in less than 20 days. Somewhere as in, PUERTO RICO. I'm so excited! I can't wait to be on the beach, drinking a margarita without a care in the world.
