United States of Studs

Can I just take a moment and say: I had no intentions on looking so patriotic on my second to last day in Colorado. But, the icing on the cake merely was where friend, Ila, took me the day I was dressed so red, white, and blue.
None only than Civic Center Park! A park that borderers the State Capitol. Slowly putting two and two together realizing that my outfit perfectly matched my surroundings, we busted out laughing and decided that this would be the perfect photo op. I mean, come on. Out of all the parks in Denver, we end up at the State Capitol on the day I'm dressed like a freaking American Flag?
Help me decide...pure irony, good American citizen, or Lana Del Rey? (National Anthem)
'Merrrrrrica!

Reflecting on..

Photos by: Ila Camacho

You can never, and I mean NEVER go wrong with a shiny gold pant.
Well, (I take that back). You absolutely could if you paired them with something completely outlandish, (as if they aren't striking enough) that could result in making them look tacky. That's why I decided to tone down this look adding a simple white Acne sweater yet, playing off the gold in wearing these reflective 80's looking sunglasses I picked up at a vintage shop here in Boulder.
I can't even begin to tell you how many times I heard "Nice pants" or " Hey, MC Hammer!",  today.

Westward Snow

Wait, can we just take a moment and talk about the fact that I'm on vacation and there's thirteen inches of snow outside? And that it's warmer now in NYC than Colorado?!
I thought coming to the West coast involved laying on mountain tops, soaking up the sun, and hiking around in shorts and sweaters. BUT, just like any other big city in this country I guess comes with bi-polor weather. Colorado is different though. Yes, it's snowing but because of the low humidity you can simply wearing an oversized sweater (with layers underneath, of course) to keep you warm. Plus, the snow out is so pretty it reflects, unlike the dirty disgusting snow in New York City.
Although I thought my entire trip was going to be sunny and bright, I still have a couple of things to look forward to like: the warm weather coming later on in the week and I still have a couple more days here with so much more to see! So for now, I'll just enjoy playing in the snow.

Birds of a feather flock together

....Four shots of tequila later, we decided to get creative by doing (I guess) a little DIY project? This is what happens when you visit your friend who goes to art school. But, it was fun! It involved face painting, feathers, and a flash light; which created dramatic background shadows. Do it yourself (DIY) was probably the best solution of the night, considering we were unable to go up to the mountains that night from snowy weather conditions.
Its crazy how one day in Denver you're wearing a sweater and shorts enjoying the sun, then the next you're bundling up in layers trying to keep warm from the three inches of snow accumulating up in the mountains.
"Welcome to Colorado!" - as my best friend Ila would say.

Red Rockies

Finally, I've landed in Denver, Colorado and so far, I'm loving every second of this beautiful city. Traveling out west to visit one of your best friends, at first is kind of a culture shock. I'm so use to seeing sky-scrapping buildings regularly in New York City and now, for 10 days, I'll be viewing the tippy tops of mountains, snowboarding in Boulder, hiking, and just simply enjoy being an outdoorsy fuck in this active city. Which is completely fine in my book considering the weather status here is superb.

Denver weather is perfect for a Joe Fresh blanket poncho where you can spread your arms, feeling as if you could just take off and fly away. It's chilly enough here that'll it will keep you warm, yet warm enough where all you need underneath is a short sleeved shirt. I'm obsessed with the oversize look that this poncho gives off.
Soooooooooo cozy!
